Purpose-driven experiences
We are Ecoculture

Hello, thank you for visiting us!
EcoCulture is a women-led organization that contributes to the transformation of tourism and sustainability in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina. Through high-impact social services and experiences in sustainable tourism, agroecology, and environmental education, we promote the well-being and resilience of our communities.
We are a group of women—scientists, rural farmers, and entrepreneurs in scientific and sustainable tourism from San Andrés and Providencia—united to guide you through high-value experiences focused on the conservation and regeneration of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve.
Causes and Projects
EcoCulture is a women-led organization dedicated to promoting well-being, resilience, and sustainability throughout the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina. Our mission focuses on managing and developing projects, processes, and experiences with social impact and innovation across the tourism, agroecological, cultural, environmental, social, and educational sectors.
Featured Projects
-
Agrivoltaic System for Sustainable Farming and Scientific Tourism: A cutting-edge approach to food security and renewable energy.
-
Experiences and Tours: EcoCulture offers activities that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the archipelago's nature and culture, promoting conscious and enriching tourism.
-
Conservation of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve: Since its UNESCO "Man and the Biosphere" designation in 2000, EcoCulture has worked actively to preserve this area by engaging local communities in conservation initiatives.
-
Support for Local Communities: The organization implements projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the archipelago's inhabitants, focusing on sustainable development and the promotion of local culture.
Through these causes and projects, EcoCulture contributes significantly to the sustainable development and conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina.
Main causes
At EcoCulture, tourism goes beyond rest: it is a way of caring for and understanding the territory with purpose. Through sustainable and scientific tourism, we promote responsible experiences that respect the natural and cultural richness of the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina. We invite visitors to take an active role in conservation—observing with curiosity, learning with respect, and contributing through concrete actions to the well-being of the environment. If you dream of traveling while leaving a positive impact, this is your place.
From the land, sustainability also flourishes. That is why we work with local communities in agroecological farms that implement environmentally friendly farming techniques, protect biodiversity, and ensure healthy and sovereign food systems. By joining as a volunteer, you can plant, harvest, share knowledge, and build resilience from the roots. It is a unique opportunity to connect with nature and with those who live and care for it every day.
Moreover, we believe in the power of education as a tool for transformation. Our environmental education programs are designed to inspire children, youth, and adults to value, protect, and regenerate the ecosystems of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve. As a volunteer, you can participate in workshops, guided tours, and educational activities that foster ecological awareness. Come learn, teach, and be part of a growing network of change that expands with every action!

Eco Scientific Observatory of Tourism and Biodiversity (OETB)
Be part of our research group
The Eco Scientific Observatory of Tourism and Biodiversity (OETB) in San Andrés and Providencia emerges as a key initiative to integrate knowledge management, biodiversity conservation, and the sustainable development of scientific tourism in this Colombian archipelago. This platform promotes collaboration between local communities, researchers, managers, and tourism operators to monitor relevant ecological and socio-economic indicators, linking tourism with citizen science and environmental protection.
The OETB is part of a growing global trend toward scientific tourism as a driver of sustainable development and conservation, recognized by international networks such as the International Network of Scientific Tourism (INST) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which promote quality and sustainability standards for science-based tourism projects. These networks facilitate transnational cooperation, the exchange of best practices, and capacity building in sensitive destinations like San Andrés and Providencia, which face the challenges of fragile island ecosystems and communities with ancestral knowledge.
Strengthening the OETB also involves the incorporation of digital tools for participatory knowledge management and the use of technologies such as mobile applications for flora and fauna observation, enhancing the scientific literacy of both tourists and residents. In this way, the OETB contributes to building regenerative tourism that integrates research, conservation, and tourism experiences, aligned with the best international practices in scientific tourism.

Agrovoltaic system for sustainable farming and scientific tourism on San Andrés Island
Integration of solar energy, agroecology, and biodiversity monitoring.
We aim to transform sunlight into food and autonomy: a community-based agrovoltaic system led by Raizal women who cultivate, generate energy, and help conserve San Andrés Island.
The agrovoltaic system (AVS), which combines solar panels, hydroponics, and low-energy cooling, allows for increased local vegetable production, the replacement of fossil energy with renewable energy, and the generation of scientific evidence on biodiversity and agroecology in island environments.
